Arundel Autumn Sky FinalArundel Autumn Sky Final

On Saturday with the only blue skies for a week I took a bike ride over to Arundel, a West Sussex small town famous for its Castle. Mill Road runs at the base of the castle and has an Avenue of trees. Although most trees here still have their leaves, these fell early with only a few left. This was ok for this shot though as I wanted to get the circle of the sky in with my fisheye lens.

The picture was taken handheld with a Sony A700 with a Samyang 8mm fisheye lens at f8.

Photomatix

3 images at 2EV separation were outputted in Photomatix to Detail Enhancer.

Photoshop

First the minus 2 EV layer was copied in, excluded with a black layer mask and then a white brush used to bring it in and tone down highlight areas.

Detail was brought back in with Topaz adjust with vibrant presets group with boost preset with adjustments. Some areas, mainly highlights were excluded from the effect by applying Topaz on a duplicate layer with a layer mask.

General adjustments in levels to enhance.

Brightness was reduced further in some areas using the brightness/contrast adjustment layer using a layer mask.

Vibrance adjustment layer was increased by 33 points.

Hue saturation adjustment layer was used with a layer mask to reduce blue saturation a little. Saturation yellows was increased a little to enhance the leaves.

Layers flattened before going on to sharpening.
