Crackington Haven Emerging Rock

Crackington Haven Emerging Rock

This beach is about 11 miles south of Bude on the North Cornwall coast. It is notable for a narrow bay with great rock formations on the beach. We arrived well before sunrise which was at 08.16. The shot was taken 45 minutes later. I was really attracted by the strange shape and patterns on this rock. The shot is a 30 second long exposure with a fair wind blowing and some large waves.

The picture was taken with a Sony A700 with a Sigma 10-20 wide angle zoom at 10mm. Taken with a tripod using a BW 10 stop filter and a shutter speed of 30 seconds. The picture was first processed in RAW. More overall detail was brought in using Topaz Clarity. The mono conversion was done using Topaz B&W Effects with the sea being lightened using the burn tool in the plugin. More punch brought in to the foreground using Unsharp mask 32 amount and 32 radius with a layer mask.
