Chris Froome Cobbles Corner

Chris Froome Cobbles Corner

I have just returned from a 10 day trip taking in some of the Tour de France stages in northern France. This was Stage 4 on Tuesday 7 July finishing in Cambrai in NE France. The stage had 7 sections of cobbled roads. This was near Quively on a stretch of cobbles which was one of the longest and most difficult. I had checked the location in advance using Google Street View to find a good corner.

Chris Froome the current leader is in yellow chased by challenger Alberto Contador showing some serious effort. With no barriers and a very narrow lane it was possible to be really close to the riders.
The picture was taken handheld with a Sony A700 with a Sigma 28-200 zoom at 28mm. As light levels were quite low I used ISO 1000 to get a shutter speed of 1/1250 second to freeze the action.

The image was edited in Camera Raw for a little more brightness and detail. Topaz DeNoise and Topaz Clarity were also used
