Well Done To All Rio Olympians

Well Done To All Rio Olympians

Congratulations to all Olympians from whichever Country and however they did for a great 2 weeks of Sport. Plus a special mention for the great achievement of Team GB in coming second in the medal table above China and a record beating of our total in a previous Home Games.

The picture was taken in the London 2012 Paralympics. The rider in the picture is John – Allan Butterworth in the Qualifying Heats for the C5 category Pursuit. During this ride he broke the World Record and went on to ride in the afternoon to win the silver medal. He lost his left arm in Iraq in 2007 and took up Para Cycling as part of rehabilitation. An appropriate picture considering the problems with the Rio Paralympics.

The picture was taken handheld with a Sony A700 with a Sigma 28-200mm zoom at 90mm. Settings were ISO of 1600 to get a fast shutter speed of 1/400th second to freeze the fast moving cyclist in the dim light. My seat was up in the rafters but we were able to move around and this shot was taken near the edge of the track.

I took the original image at an angle but increased this with Photoshop image rotation and crop. Topaz DeNoise and Clarity were used.
