Serpentine Pavilion Fantasy

Serpentine Pavilion Fantasy

A wet Monday morning is a good time to play around with one of my images of the 2016 Serpentine Pavilion to create this fairly weird fantasy shot. This years Pavilion has just opened with open dates of 10th June to 9th October. This one is a particular gift for Photographers being made up of multiple open boxes and is great for pattern and abstract images. In a normal shot it is made of 1,800 extruded fibreglass open ended boxes rising to 14 metres with a cafe inside. This shot was taken at an angle for more of a diagonal composition.

The picture was taken handheld with a Sony A700 with a Sigma 10-20mm lens at 10 mm. I processed one image in RAW. This was followed by Topaz Clarity. Next Topaz Lens Effects was used on the Zoom setting with the zoom centre set for the “horizon” or actually the line where the roof was. This effect was applied with a layer mask which was used to remove the effect from part which incidentally makes the clearer boxes look like alien skyscrapers. Hue saturation adjustment layer was used to increase red and yellow saturation in the top to enhance the look of flames. The final touch was Topaz Glow electrify preset with a blending layer of screen and opacity of 60%
