Stairs Up To London Bridge

Stairs Up To London Bridge

This was a must for me with a new public staircase in London. Not quite a spiral with straight stairs leading to 2 curved connecting platforms. The new structure forms a link between London Bridge and the North Bank City Riverside Walkway, replacing an existing staircase nearby. It provides raised viewing platforms suspended dramatically over the water. It was completed and opened in May 2016. It also has the advantage of some beautiful views of The Shard on which there are mixed views but I consider it a beautiful and graceful building. The Shard is the tallest building in the United Kingdom and the fourth-tallest building in Europe. With nights closing in this provided a good location to start back on some night photography.

The picture was taken on a tripod with a Sony A700 with a Sigma 10-20 mm lens at 15mm. 3 raw images 2EV spacing processed with Photomatix 6 using Fusion Interior for a natural look. I next used the minus 2EV image with a layer mask to reduce highlights. More detail with Topaz Clarity. Slight vignette with a brightness adjustment layer with a layer mask. Some tidy up with the heal and clone tools.
