Car Park Stairs Vertigo

Car Park Stairs Vertigo

This shot was taken at the stairs of a NCP Car Park at Henrietta Place in London. Sorry if it gives anybody vertigo to look at though it was taken from the bottom looking up. It is rather tight fit at the bottom. It is a dark gritty sort of place and I needed ISO 2500 to get a long enough shutter speed to handhold. There would probably have been just enough room to put up a tripod. Although the shot was taken at 15mm I cropped quite a bit to get a tighter composition. I decided it was an ideal sort of place for mono.

The picture was taken handheld with a Sony A700 with a Sigma 10-20 wide angle zoom at 15 mm. I took 3 shots for HDR and used Photomatix Contrast Optimiser for a natural look. I used Topaz DeNoise and Topaz Clarity. For extra punch I used Topaz Adjust Vibrance Dramatic with a slight vignette. A little cloning was used to remove a highlight. Mono conversion was done using Topaz B&W Effects.
