Suddenly That LightBulb Moment

Suddenly That LightBulb Moment

This is a fairly obscure one from the list. Sean Batten put together a map showing London’s Spiral Staircases from those known to him and other London Photographers. I contributed 3. For the map see https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zGBl9m2NaoaU.kUNHdyvugwUA&usp=sharing This was originally found by Sean Batten by accident when looking for something else. Even with the map it is not that obvious as the more obvious car park is just down the road. A few yards north of the road entrance to a car part is a doorway marked as an entrance to the Museum of London. Going up the stairs leads to a walkway which eventually goes to the Museum. Going down the stairs past the sign saying Residents Only leads to this viewpoint looking up the stairs. There is an underground car park on this below street basement level.

Light levels were very low. I tried some handheld but even at 2000 ISO shutter speeds were not good enough. This shot was taken with a tripod which with nobody about and plenty of room was no problem. This also enabled a higher aperture for wider depth of field.

The shot was taken with a Sony A700 with a Sigma 10-20mm lens at 10 mm. 3 raw images 2EV spacing were taken. I added a 4th by changing and saving the minus 2 EV image as minus 4 for the skylight. The images were processed with Photomatix Fusion Natural settings. Topaz Clarity was also used. I added a vignette with that feature only of Topaz Adjust. More punch was added with a clarity effect using Unsharp Mask at settings of 31 amount and 31 radius.
