Stairs To Stardust

Stairs To Stardust

I discovered this by accident when looking around a London Car Park for suitable compositions. I do not think it has been photographed a lot, probably because not many photographers look round car parks for their photos. I was really struck by the space age look of these stairs and of course the title is influenced by the sad news about David Bowie this morning. The shot is taken from the lowest floor of a car park on the southern branch of Lower Thames Street close to The Tower of London.

The picture was taken handheld with a Sony A700 with a Sigma 10-20mm lens at 10 mm. 3 raw images 2EV spacing processed with Photomatix Contrast Optimiser setting for a natural look. A high ISO was needed to get a fast enough shutter speed producing Noise which I removed with Topaz DeNoise. Topaz Clarity was also used. Brightness contrast adjustment layers were used for selective adjustments with layer masks. More punch with a clarity effect using unsharp mask 51 amount and 51 radius.
