Blackwall Lock Cityscape

Blackwall Lock Cityscape

This was taken early in February. This is a view from the east of Canary Wharf looking along Blackwall Lock. Blackwall Basin where my earlier picture was taken is on the other side of the main road bridge. I was standing on the pedestrian path over the disused Lock Gates adjoining the Thames. The closest station is Blackwall DLR. I took a number of shots and succeeded in getting a bus light trail across the bridge. I was attracted by the lead in of the buildings and lights along the dock.

The picture was taken on a Tripod with a Sony A700 with a Sigma 10-20mm lens at 20 mm. 3 raw images 2EV spacing processed with Photomatix Contrast Optimiser for a natural look. A little Noise was removed with Topaz DeNoise. I used Topaz Clarity to bring up detail. An adjustment layer saturation reds was used to tone down the near buildings. More punch was added using unsharp mask 25 amount and 25 radius for a clarity effect. The heal and clone tools were used to tidy up rubbish and spots in the water. There was some ugky scaffolding against the building on the far left. I removed this by using Mirror Cloning from the building on the far right. For how to do this see technique 3 in an earler Blog post on my Website at http://edwinjonesphotography.com/blog/2015/12/how-to-remove-tourists-from-photos
