55 Broadway Stairs in Green

55 Broadway Stairs in Green

On my latest London trip Something I have been looking forward to was my visit to 55 Broadway the HQ of London Transport. This is built above St James Park Underground Station. This was London’s first skyscraper built in 1929 in the art deco style. I was attracted to these stairs on the top floor by their bright colours which are as seen. The London Transport Museum run tours there for 6 weekends a year and the tours are 90 minutes so not many a day. They did a queue system on their website. When I got on a minute after their email opened the floodgates there were 250 ahead of me and a 7 minute wait. I got on and booked the tours I wanted. I checked as a matter of interest an hour later and the queue was 5700. The chances to see inside this building are rapidly running out as London Transport are moving out in 2018 after which it will be redeveloped as flats.

The picture was taken handheld with a Sony A700 with a Sigma 10-20 wide angle zoom at 13 mm. I took 3 shots for HDR. 3 raw images 2EV spacing processed with Photomatix Fusion Real Estate used for a natural look. Noise was removed with Topaz DeNoise. Topaz Clarity was used to bring in more detail.
