Sivill House Spiral Up

Sivill House Spiral Up

You may have guessed by now that of late I have been working through a list. Sean Batten put together a map showing London’s Spiral Staircases from those known to him and other London Photographers. I contributed three. For the map see https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zGBl9m2NaoaU.kUNHdyvugwUA&usp=sharing

This one is called Sivill House in Bethnal Green and is handily close to George Loveless House where I took the shot in an earlier upload. This is another block of flats where the entrance is via an entryphone door system so I had to wait a little for somebody to come out. Like George Loveless House this 19 storey block of flats was built in the modernist style and again designed by Berthold Lubetkin.

This shot was taken handheld and with low light I needed 1250 ISO for a measly 1/10 second shutter speed. For years now I have used Topaz DeNoise to remove Noise while saving detail. A week ago they brought out version 6 of the software. I have completed a review and Tutorial of this on my website. Until 20th March there is a $30 introductory discount. Normal price $79.99 and offer of $49.99. For my review see http://edwinjonesphotography.com/topaz-denoise-6-review-and-tutorial

The picture was taken handheld. The shot was taken with a Sony A700 with a Sigma 10-20mm lens at 10 mm. 3 raw images 2EV spacing processed with Photomatix Detail Enhancer settings. I removed Noise with Topaz DeNoise. Topaz Clarity was also used. I added a vignette with that feature only of Topaz Adjust. More punch was added with a clarity effect using Unsharp Mask at settings of 45 amount and 45 radius. I considered mono but decided to leave it in colour as I liked the greens.
