Brighton i360 Tower Seafront View

Brighton i360 Tower Seafront View

Friday evening I took a trip on the Brighton i360 on the second day of its opening. BA who run it call the trips up the Tower flights and appropriately enough take off was delayed by 30 minutes. Teething problems possibly as it was a delay which had built up over the day. As I had booked for an 8.30 takeoff and it took off at 9.00 I missed out on the best of the sunset but there were still some good sky colours. The Tower is the tallest moving Observation Tower at 450 ft. It is also the narrowest being a pole up which the observation pod which looks very much like a flying saucer moves.

This shot was taken about halfway up. Nearer the top the shots were spoiled by reflections as it got darker. The shot is taken looking west along the seafront with the South Downs being the low hills in the distance.

The picture was taken handheld with a Sony A700 with a Sigma 10-20mm zoom at 15mm. The images were processed in Photomatix for HDR using fusion natural preset with some adjustments. I brought back in the Plus 2 EV image with a layer mask to brighten the foreground cityscape. In addition I used I used Topaz DeNoise and Topaz Clarity. I removed some small reflections using the Clone Tool
